This year’s Van Buren County Fair is dedicated to the memory of Bob & Barb Hamberg, lifelong supporters of 4-H in Van Buren County. From mentoring their own children, Cecil, Jackie & Aaron, to mentoring new 4-H members, one theme always came out in all they did: patience…with the animals, with projects, new members, and with every member. Barb worked for 8 years with the Extension Service, starting in 1986 and enjoyed helping new 4-H members with project selection and completing the documentation. She was always there to congratulate them in their success when they received their ribbons. Bob could be found helping in any area of the fair, from keeping people calm in the face of a problem, to lending a helping hand to a 4-H member needing guidance. He always seemed to know where his help was needed. The last several years Barb kept active at the fair by working in the Methodist Church Food Stand. May we all continue to remember Bob & Barb fondly and remember the lessons they taught us all: have patience, never quit a project and mentor those that need our help.

Dedication will be held during the live stock auction on Monday, July 17, 2107.
